Assistant Accountant | Immediate Start | 3 month contract to Permanent 

Our client based in Brisbane's South, is currently seeking an Assistant Accountant for a  3-month contract basis  with potential to go permanent for the right person. 

This role suits someone who is available to start immediately or at short notice. 

The Role 

Working closely with a hands-on Finance Manager, you'll play a key part in the day-to-day finance operations and month-end processes, with the opportunity to gradually take on more responsibility as you develop.  It's a great fit for someone looking to build on their foundation and step into a more well-rounded accounting role.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist with month-end preparation and journal postings
• Reconcile bank accounts and key general ledger items
• Support the preparation and review of BAS and other compliance reporting
• Maintain the expense management system and review transactions
• Assist with fixed asset registers and reconciliations
• Provide reporting support to the broader finance team
• Liaise with internal teams and suppliers on procurement and payment queries
• Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives

• Multiple years commercial experience in an Assistant Accountant role, ideally within a complex business
• A strong understanding of debits/credits, reconciliations, and month-end basics
• Studying toward or recently completed a relevant qualification (e.g. CPA/CA or degree)
• Confident Excel skills and exposure to large systems (desirable)
• Proactive, organised, and eager to learn
