We are partnering with a well-regarded energy and resources business seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team on an initial 3–6 month contract.

This role is pivotal in supporting ongoing commercial operations across their mining assets during a period of extended leave within the team.

You'll be stepping into a highly collaborative environment, working closely with senior leadership, general counsel, and operational teams to ensure the seamless delivery of critical projects and contract negotiations.

The Role:

• Lead the management, negotiation, and administration of key commercial agreements, including a major coal supply contract 
• Support the business through contract transitions and dispute resolutions as they navigate a new agreement period.
• Oversee commercial activities across mining operations and power station projects, including regulatory negotiations, mineral development approvals, and land access matters.
• Engage in strategic structuring of long-term contracts, particularly around mid-life asset projects.
• Manage a significant insurance portfolio 
• Drive enhancements to contract management processes, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
• Provide commercial oversight on litigation in partnership with external counsel and internal legal teams.
• Support financial performance initiatives, procurement activities, and long-term asset planning.

• Proven experience in commercial management within the mining sector, ideally with exposure to coal mining contractor agreements.
• Strong commercial acumen with a solid grasp of contract law, financial impacts, and risk management.
• Intermediate to senior-level experience, comfortable working autonomously yet collaborative with stakeholders across Operations, Legal, and Executive teams.
• Ability to operate under pressure, manage competing priorities, and drive outcomes quietly but effectively.

• Location: Brisbane-based role with flexible hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 days WFH)
