The Role
This is a broad and hands-on contract Finance Officer
role, covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and compliance. You’ll be central to keeping financial processes running smoothly, ensuring accuracy in day-to-day transactions, and supporting the Finance Manager with reconciliations, reporting, and cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices, payments, staff reimbursements, and expense claims
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, monitor receivables, and liaise with the debtor finance provider
- Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with awards and legislation
- Support preparation of BAS, PAYG, superannuation, and other compliance obligations
- Perform reconciliations across bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet items
- Maintain the fixed asset register and prepare cash flow forecasts
- Provide timely data and insights to support the Finance Manager with reporting
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and staff to resolve finance queries
- Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives
- Previous experience in a Finance Officer or similar transactional finance role
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
- Familiarity with compliance obligations (BAS, GST, PAYG, superannuation)
- Proficient in financial and payroll systems, with strong Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to prioritise
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
