Leading a small accounting and payroll team, this position will suit someone with strong technical accounting skills, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to operate strategically across both finance and broader business services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and management reporting, partnering with senior leaders to align financial planning with organisational strategy.
- Oversee financial operations including cashflow management, reconciliations, payroll, tax, superannuation, and asset registers.
- Provide analysis and insight into operational and activity-based performance to support executive and board decision-making.
- Manage the development of both government and non-government grant applications, assessing feasibility and funding impact.
- Ensure strong financial governance, compliance, and risk management practices, including liaison with auditors and external stakeholders.
- Foster a high-performing and customer-focused finance team culture, balancing day-to-day delivery with continuous improvement.
- CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a Head of Finance, Finance Manager, or similar leadership role, ideally within a healthcare, community services, or not-for-profit environment.
- Prior exposure to SME or mid-sized environments, demonstrating the ability to work hands-on while maintaining a strategic lens.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financial and operational data and communicate insights to executives and board members.
- Experience supporting grant or tender applications with feasibility/ viability analysis is highly regarded.
- Skilled across MYOB (preferably Advanced/Acumatica), payroll, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience leading an ERP upgrade/ implementation (highly desirable)
