About the Role
As a Payroll Officer, you will play a key role in the timely and precise processing of fortnightly payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant awards, agreements, and legislation. You’ll work closely with internal departments and provide expert advice to employees and management on payroll matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, input, and finalisation of fortnightly payroll data
- Process payroll adjustments, back payments, and new pay rates
- Manage payroll deductions and superannuation disbursements
- Maintain accurate payroll records and support audit/reporting requirements
- Provide responsive payroll support and advice across the organisation
- Utilise CHRIS Payroll System and other related platforms
- Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls
You are a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of payroll systems and legislation. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are confident working autonomously when needed.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in payroll processing, ideally in a large or complex organisation
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll systems (CHRIS Payroll desirable)
- Knowledge of Local Government Awards and Enterprise Agreements (preferred)
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- A commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
- Satisfactory Police Check
