The Client / Opportunity

My client is seeking a technically adept and forward thinking Senior Accountant.

Reporting into the Head of finance this role will take on a 2IC capacity with oversight across Financial Accounting and Management Accounting teams across the business, totally 6 staff.

The idea is to provide technical nous around financial accounting processes (including IFRS interpretation, accounting best practice and continually drive efficiency) and for the role to grow more and more forward facing as this free's up time.

The role is responsible for providing effective supervision and development of the team including identifying and developing opportunities to enhance the team's capabilities to support finance functions and financial system management policies, protocols and controls.

Duties include:
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Preparation and delivery of value add management reporting, particularly around cost management
  • Provide proactive commercial insights to improve financial outcomes. 
  • Identify trends, key drivers to systematise analysis processes.
  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of Long Term Financial Plan
  • Review and manage the approval process for grant acquittals.
  • Manage the Financial Accounting Team in preparing accurate audit materials, including managing the end of year financial audit and preparation of Financial Statements.
About you (What you possess)
  • CA/CPA qualifications
  • Chartered background highly preferred
  • 4 years + experience, ideally gained in chartered firm (audit) or medium-to-large commercial business
  • Strong technical accounting foundation and knowledge of AASB / IFRS, with demonstrated experience in completion and support of external audits
  • Interest if not previous experience in learning management accounting
  • Analytical mind
