Queensland Sugar Limited (QSL) is a leader in raw sugar marketing with a long-standing reputation for quality service and innovation in both the Queensland Sugar Industry and the international sugar market.
QSL operates six Bulk Sugar Terminals along the Queensland coast and handles over 3 million tonnes of raw sugar each year, exported to countries all around the world.

As the Bulk Terminal Supervisor you will manage a team of operations staff and report directly to the Bulk Terminal Manager, and be responsible for managing a team of employees through engagement and support to build and sustain a culture that continually shares QSL values.
Some key responsibilities will include:
- Provide support and align functions of the daily activities of the site to fulfil the responsibilities within EHS, budgets, maintenance, capital, and operational activities
- Continuously demonstrate a personal commitment to QSL’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies and Standards and believe “Safety Starts with me”.
- Develop and enhance risk maturity through, not only physical requirements, but also the dimensions of personal decision making and group impact.
- Assist the annual budgeting process, including major maintenance and capital works. Liaising with other areas of the company to ensure good communication and outcomes
You will be a proven operations leader with extensive experience working in an industrial environment and someone who draws on their teams experience to problem solve and deliver efficient and cost-effective outcomes which are customer focused. You will use your strong leadership skills to unlock your team’s potential and continuously enhance the culture on site, through effective conflict management and be solutions focused.
You may come from a trades background, or another relevant leadership role in operations and your people skills will be your greatest asset.
Safety will be a priority in everything that you do and will be a key area of importance when providing coaching and training to others. This will in turn influence and engage staff to be aware of operational risks and develop a culture that has a balanced approach to risk and safety through psychological and cultural factors. You will be a natural leader, who is approachable, collaborative with strong emotional intelligence.. It is essential that you are a motivated self-starter, with high levels of personal responsibility and ownership.
Previous experience managing budgets and a basic understanding of financial systems, asset management and maintenance processes would be advantageous. It is essential that you are a fast learner who has operational experience in a similar heavy industry, and you will be someone who values safety and has a working knowledge of safety management systems.
