Job Description

Prestigious Australian Education Organisation is looking for a Business Analyst responsible for the effort to gather, analyse and document requirements in support of business cases, proposed projects, and system/business requirements and integration points. This role works with stakeholders within the company (end users, managers, developers, and executives) as well as business interest external to the company by effectively discerning and analysing the true needs of stakeholders for both programs and projects originating from multiple areas of the company.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Elicit, analyse, document, and validate business and functional requirements.
  • Actively engage stakeholders in defining requirements; understand the commonly used techniques to elicit requirements; select appropriate technique(s) for a given situation; prepare, execute and complete each technique used.
  • Develop analysis strategies for Medium to Large projects.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts through facilitation to identify solution options to examine their feasibility.
  • Assist technology team with detailed design work; review technical design deliverables; resolve problems, adjustments to new procedures; ensure that the production rollout of any change is completed as smoothly as possible; manage change requests including new requirements, next phase issues, and any other post-implementation support.
  • Participate in design walkthroughs and provide support and response to questions from members of the team.
  • Develop process and workflow models
  • Revise requirements, business rules and obtain customer sign-off as needed
  • Analyze the impacts of software applications throughout all phases of projects.
  • Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
  • Identify test requirements from specifications, assisting in testing as needed.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effectively identifies and analyzes problems, determines appropriate actions and implements solutions.
  • Identifies opportunities to mentor or assist others with professional development. 
  • Possesses demonstrated the ability to read and interpret different communication styles of stakeholders who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Demonstrated drive for continuous improvement in methods and processes. 
  • Identifies assumptions and works to find information and data that address those assumptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to think broadly and communicate analysis clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of Health Care and Insurance Plan domains.
  • Technical analysis skills,  e.g. SQL, SDLC,  development methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Excel and Visio.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.
  • 2+ or more years of experience in business process analysis or System Integration experience.
  • 2+ years of experience documenting functional, high-level business requirements within a professional business environment.
  • 2+ years of experience with process improvement, workflow, benchmarking and/or evaluation of business processes required.
  • 2+ years of experience leading and/or facilitating a requirements gathering session.
  • Experience working in all phases of the SDLC.
