Job Description

The Database Administrator will take primary responsibility for the configuration management and overall operational readiness of organisation wide databases and associated platforms ensuring 24/7 availability. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both back-end data structure and front-end accessibility for end-users.

Key Accountability: 
  • Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on end user’s specialised role and business requirements
  • Design and implement databases in accordance to the business information needs and views
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format 
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
  • Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Provide proactive and where required reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
  • Assist peers within the IT team to deliver services within other locations
Required skills:
  • Proven working experience as a Database administrator
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL task management
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation, scripting and coding
  • Previous experience with DBA case tools (front-end/back-end) and third party tools
  • Previous experience with programming languages and API’s
  • Preferred experience managing data within AX and SAGE
  • Problem solving skills 
  • BS degree in a computer discipline and/or relevant certification
  • A proven record of exceptional customer service and support skills
