The Company
Our client is a well respected Energy and Infrastructure business who is undergoing a busy period of growth in their energy markets trading team and is looking to hire a highly talented analyst. They are leaders in their field and offer safe and sustainable power, that is reflective of the current global needs. The Role
In this broad role, you will be responsible for all analytical support to the forward trading team as well as working within the broader development and trading team including spot trading, retail and business development to ensure a consistent market view and analysis to underpin the business strategy and execution plans.  The role will evolve to that of executing forward trades as required by the Forward Trading Manager across either energy derivatives or environmental certificates for the retail business.  The role will also include report generation to represent the hedge positions and strategy over time. Other key responsibilities will include; 
  • Analyse the National Electricity Market to understand supply, demand, competitor strategies and transmission constraints
  • Provide analytical support to Forward trading team using the understanding of the National Electricity Market
  • Co-ordinate market forecasts and compare with the traded forward market to underpin offers to the market and identify opportunities to create value
  • Execute approved trading strategies in the SFE and OTC markets within delegated limits
  • Provide some analytical support to other teams such as Market Regulation, Business Development and Electricity Retail
About You
Ideally you will have a tertiary degree in economics, maths, engineering or similar and be looking to pursue further post graduate study in a relevant field. 
Your proven analytical and quantitative ability combined with your strong interpersonal skills will be imperative to you being successful in this role. You will also have strong IT skills and be willing to learn and adapt new languages to trading as required. You will have previously worked in a trading environment and prior experience in electricity will be highly regarded. This is a complex analytical role where you will be using SQL, VBA and you will have a natural appetite to explore new and innovative ways to trade efficiently and effectively.
