Job Description

Our client is a high growth FinTech organisation looking to hire a legal and compliance specialist in a newly created role that will help establish this critical function within the business and provide advise to the board, executive and general operations. This will be a very broad role operating as the compliance and corporate governance manager, company secretary and legal counsel.

As a member of the senior management team, you will be directly reporting to the board while providing advice and support to the CEO. As the Legal and Compliance Manager you will be responsible for establishing a more robust compliance program across the organisation and to provide legal advice to the entire business. You will be charged will have ownership of the enterprise wide risk in the business by supporting a range of stakeholders with commercial legal advise in Australia and internationally as the continue to grow.
  
You will help support the strategic direction of business and develop a robust reporting schedule for the board and operate as the key point of contact for all regulatory bodies and external legal partners.

Given this is a newly created role the initial 6-12 months will be heavily focused on reviewing current procedures in both legal and compliance and adding necessary changes to both functions aligned with business goals and strategy.

To be considered for this role you will need to be a qualified lawyer with relevant experience in the financial services sector. It would be highly advantageous if you have previous had experience working within compliance of a corporate business and or have dealt previously with financial services regulators such as  (ASIC, APRA) and be familiar with the Privacy Act.
You will be highly flexible, positive in your approach and have the ability to collaborate with a wide number of stakeholders and work autonomously when required. You will have a high attention to detail and be capable to work across functions and prioritise your work.
