Job Description
Our client a leading fashion retailer is looking for a payroll officer to join their team on a 6 month FTC.
As the Payroll Officer you will coordinate the weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll process for both Australia and New Zealand to ensure that will employee and statutory obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure payments to employees are made accurately and on time
- Interpret and apply Industrial Agreements, ensure pay records are accurate and representative of entitlements and conditions
- Prepare, balance and reconcile PAYG tax and assist the finance department to reconcile FBT, Superannuation and payment summaries
- Ensure maintenance of all relevant leave and payroll reports
- Ensure the efficient flow of correspondence and information
- Provide professional and expert advice to employees on payroll matters
- Maintain and implement up to date information on changes to payroll and taxation legislation
- Develop and review processes and standards and initiate process improvement initiatives with a focus on simplification, data integrity and system improvements
- Undertake financial and statutory reporting
- Assist with other related reporting as required
- Liaise closely with Finance to ensure the accuracy and relevance of reporting to general ledger
Key Experience
- Demonstrated experience as a Payroll Officer
- Experience in the use of Sage Micropay is desirable
- Experience processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly pays including multiple payruns
- Experience with interpretation of awards and agreements in Australia and New Zealand
- Knowledge of payroll tax and Workcover legislation in all Australian states and territories
- Experience dealing with ATO, Centrelink and Superannuation clearing houses
- Experience in month end reporting and fringe benefits calculations
- High level customer service skills including outstanding interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer literacy including use of excel as an analytical and reporting tool
