An established privately owned business operating within the heavy industries sector is looking to appoint an Accountant to its Brisbane-based finance team.
The organisation operates across several international markets and supports a broad range of commercial activities across its group structure. As the business continues to expand its operations and strengthen internal financial processes, this role will play an important part in supporting the finance function and maintaining strong reporting standards.
The Role
This role sits within a collaborative finance team and provides exposure to a wide variety of accounting activities across the business.
Working closely with senior members of the finance team, the successful candidate will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting processes and contributing to the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with month-end reporting and general ledger maintenance
- Processing and monitoring accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Preparing reconciliations across bank accounts, suppliers and intercompany balances
- Supporting treasury activities including cash monitoring and payment processing
- Assisting with payroll-related transactions and reporting
- Supporting preparation of statutory obligations including BAS and other lodgements
- Assisting with audit preparation and year-end reporting requirements
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
About you
You will be an early-career accounting professional who enjoys working in a structured environment while developing strong technical accounting skills.
You will bring:
- 2+ years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
- Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CA or CPA studies commenced or intention to commence
- Strong Excel capability and general systems confidence
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
