About the role
The Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records, supporting cash management, and maintaining strong financial discipline.
This is a hands-on, operational role suited to someone who takes pride in doing the fundamentals exceptionally well, while contributing to process and system improvements. You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller, operational stakeholders, and offshore team members to support a scalable finance function in a growing business.
Young Guns is scaling rapidly, both locally and internationally, creating strong long-term development opportunities for the right person.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Processing and overseeing transactions across AP, AR, payroll and general ledger
- Supporting month end including reconciliations, journals and accruals
- Managing banking, payroll and supplier payments across entities
- Supporting cash flow management and short-term forecasting
- Contributing to financial reporting including balance sheet, P&L and cash flow
- Ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements across Australia and New Zealand
- Supporting AP/AR oversight to optimise cash flow and improve efficiency
- Working with offshore team members to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and automation
You’ll have a relevant tertiary qualification and be either studying CA/CPA or recently qualified, with:
- 3+ years’ accounting experience across core financial processes or public practice
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and controls
- High attention to detail with a structured, organised approach
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel and financial systems
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership
- A disciplined mindset with curiosity to improve processes and systems (interest in AI a big plus!)
