A nationally operating organisation is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support its finance function. This role would suit someone early in their accounting career who enjoys detail, process and working closely with both finance and operational teams.
The Role
Reporting to a senior member of the finance team, the Assistant Accountant will support day-to-day accounting activities and contribute to timely and accurate financial reporting. The role is hands-on and process-driven, with exposure to transactional accounting, reconciliations and reporting support.
You’ll work across multiple entities and interact with stakeholders to ensure financial information is processed accurately and within required timeframes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing regular bank reconciliations
- Supporting accounts payable and receivable processes
- Processing invoices, approvals and payment-related queries
- Assisting with monthly reporting, including P&L support and variance analysis
- Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and supporting data integrity
- Assisting with budget preparation and periodic forecasting support
- Supporting year-end processes and ad-hoc finance tasks
- Working closely with internal teams to resolve finance-related queries
About You
You’re organised, detail-focused and comfortable working with routine deadlines and financial processes. You enjoy building confidence across core accounting tasks and are keen to continue developing your technical skills in a commercial environment.
You’ll bring:
- A qualification in Accounting or Finance (or close to completion)
- Around 1–2 years’ experience in an accounting or finance support role
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Clear communication skills and a professional approach
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a team
