The Assistant Accountant role has been created to support the Senior Accountant and wider finance team as reporting requirements and workloads continue to evolve.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, the Assistant Accountant will support core accounting and reporting activities across the finance function. This role is focused on learning, support and execution - assisting with month-end processes, maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance requirements.
You’ll work closely with senior team members and gain exposure to a broad range of accounting tasks while continuing to build your technical capability and confidence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting month-end close activities, assisting with journals and reconciliations
- Recording accounting transactions within the ERP system and maintaining accurate ledger records
- Assisting with preparation of profit & loss statements, balance sheets and variance analysis
- Supporting statutory and compliance requirements, including activity statements and annual reporting
- Processing corporate credit card journals and employee expense claims
- Assisting with maintenance of fixed asset registers and related schedules
- Supporting accounts receivable/payable processes, including allocations and follow-ups
- Preparing supporting schedules and reports for senior finance team members
- Assisting with ad-hoc finance tasks and projects as required
About You
You’re an organised and detail-focused Assistant Accountant who’s keen to build experience in a structured commercial environment. You enjoy learning, working to deadlines and supporting a team, and you’re looking for a role where you can continue developing your accounting skill set.
You’ll bring:
- A degree in Accounting or Finance (completed or near completion)
- CA or CPA studies commenced or planned
- Technical background is desirable
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Confidence using Excel and accounting systems
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn from senior team members
