A large service based organisation is looking to add an Assistant Accountant to its Brisbane finance team.
This is an opportunity to build strong foundations early in your accounting career, working within an experienced finance function and gaining exposure well beyond transactional accounting. The Role
Reporting to a Senior Financial Accountant, you'll support the preparation of management accounts across a portfolio of operations.
The role provides hands-on exposure to the full month end cycle, while also giving you the opportunity to work directly with operational stakeholders on budgets, forecasts and financial performance. You'll develop an understanding of how the numbers flow through the business and build both your technical accounting and stakeholder management skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing month end journals, accruals and prepayments
- Completing bank, balance sheet and GST reconciliations
- Preparing P&L reporting and commentary against budget and forecast
- Assisting with cash flow reporting and intercompany reconciliations
- Working with operational stakeholders to review financial results
- Supporting annual budgets and quarterly forecasting
- Assisting with audit requirements and year-end activities
- Supporting accounts receivable, debtor management and invoicing
- Processing corporate credit cards and reviewing coding and GST
- Providing broader support across the finance team when required
About You
This opportunity would suit someone at the beginning of their accounting career who is keen to learn, take on more responsibility and develop within a structured finance environment.
You'll be someone who takes pride in getting the detail right, follows tasks through to completion and is comfortable communicating with different stakeholders.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Some experience in an accounting, finance or corporate environment will be advantageous
- Intermediate Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capability
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn
- Ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines
- A positive and collaborative working style
