Container Exchange (CoEx) is the Queensland Government appointed not for profit operator of the Containers for Change scheme. Since launching in 2018, the network has grown to over 400 refund points across the state and has now recycled more than 12 billion containers.
The scheme is funded entirely by beverage manufacturers, who pay a contribution per eligible container sold to cover refunds, logistics, processing and operator handling. The business partners closely with three core groups: beverage manufacturers, refund point operators and community organisations including charities and schools.
While CoEx is a not for profit, it operates with a commercial board, strong government oversight and the rigour you would expect of any high performing organisation. The culture is collaborative, down to earth and values led.
THE ROLE
Sitting within the Commercial team and reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role is the day to day operational and contractual lead for a large portfolio of beverage manufacturer accounts. You will be the first point of contact for these accounts, supporting them through onboarding, statutory agreements, product registration and ongoing account management.
Approximately half of the workload sits in product registration, with the remainder split across onboarding new accounts and managing the working relationships that keep everything compliant and running smoothly. The role is not sales focused. Higher level stakeholder engagement with peak bodies sits with a separate team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Onboarding new beverage manufacturer clients into the scheme, including statutory agreements and portal setup
- Managing product registration activities across a large and varied account base
- Acting as the everyday point of contact for accounts, resolving queries and ensuring compliance is maintained
- Working collaboratively with internal teams across finance, operations and the broader scheme contract group
- Supporting clients through their interaction with the scheme, including sales support where required
This role will suit a commercially minded professional with a strong account management background and a track record of building and maintaining client relationships across a diverse portfolio. You bring practical, common sense thinking, the ability to navigate contracts and statutory agreements confidently, and a collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders.
We are open on industry background. There is only one scheme operator in each state, so direct scheme experience is not a requirement. What matters is that you can demonstrate:
- Strong account management experience across a varied client base
- Contract management exposure, including the ability to understand and apply statutory and legal frameworks
- A foundational understanding of trust structures
- Operational and process awareness, with confidence working across systems including Microsoft Suite and Power BI
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with everyone from small business owners to large corporates
- Common sense, an ability to think outside the square and a collaborative working style
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- Flexible working with 4 days in office and 1 day from home
- Active social calendar including movie nights, comedy shows and team events
- A supportive, diverse and welcoming culture where people enjoy coming to work
- Great Place to Work certified
- The opportunity to be part of a purpose led organisation delivering real environmental and community impact across Queensland
