Job Description:

  • Flexible, hybrid working — semi-remote, meeting a couple of times a month in Syd
  • You'll sit on the senior management team leading a team of three
  • Make a meaningful impact on Australia's clean energy future.
  • Director of Marketing, PR & Communications
Perigon Group X Powering Skills Organisation
    Permanent, Full Time | Sydney(Hybrid)

We're partnering with Powering Skills Organisation Ltd to find a hands-on, values-driven Director of Marketing, PR & Communications to join their senior management team.

Australia's energy sector is evolving rapidly, and Powering Skills Organisation is at the centre of shaping the workforce that will deliver it. With a strong brand already established, a capable and tenured team in place, this is not a role for someone looking to build from scratch.
If you're an innovative, hands-on leader who is genuinely excited by AI, genuinely values-driven, and ready to make a meaningful contribution to Australia's clean energy future — we'd love to hear from you.

This is a genuinely flexible role. The team comes together around once a fortnight at their Sydney WeWork.

    Location: Hybrid/Semi-Remote
Reports to: COO | Direct reports: x3
    Employment: Permanent full time
Salary$Competitive + superannuation (salary sacrifice available)

    THE OPPORTUNITY
As Director of PR, Marketing and Communications, you will sit within the senior management team and lead a talented, autonomous team. The brand foundations are solid, they have a strong LinkedIn presence, active social channels and an engaged audience. What this role calls for now is strategic elevation: sharper positioning, ready to take the PR agenda as more of a priority, and weave the communications function into the whole organisation not just separate teams.

This is a role where you will be in it with your team, not directing from above, but rolling up your sleeves and contributing ideas.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO
    Strategic Brand Leadership
    • Lead an integrated marketing, communications and PR strategy that strengthens brand equity and supports the strategic plan.
    • Maintain and evolve their established brand.
    • Ensure brand narrative and value proposition are consistent, credible and aligned across all channels and audiences.
    PR & Media Relations
    • Take ownership of the PR agenda — this is a genuine growth area and an exciting opportunity to make your mark.
    • Provide strategic oversight of media relations, public affairs and proactive reputation management.
    • Lead issues and crisis communications planning and responses
    • Build trusted relationships with key journalists, sector influencers, government bodies and industry groups.
    Marketing & Campaign Management
    • Direct integrated campaigns across digital, content, events and partnerships to increase reach and engagement.
    • Oversee content strategy and channel optimisation to strengthen brand visibility and advocacy.
    Executive Communications
    • Partner with the CEO and executive team to shape messaging that drives clarity and cultural alignment.
    • Lead executive communications including speeches, briefings, thought leadership and board-facing materials.
    Performance & Insight
    • Establish performance frameworks to measure brand health, campaign effectiveness and reputational risk.
    • Embed a culture of evaluation, innovation and learning — including use of AI tools.
    ABOUT YOU
You are a senior communications professional who leads with integrity, thinks strategically, and genuinely enjoys being part of the work, not just overseeing it! Excited by what AI can do for your craft. You care about the values of the organisations you work for, and you want your work to have a real impact. You'll bring:
    • 10+ years of senior experience in PR, marketing or communications – open to industry!
    • Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing high-performing, autonomous teams.
    • Demonstrated experience leading organisational change, bringing teams on the journey and delivering results through periods of transformation
    • A strategic mindset paired with a hands-on approach
    • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and emerging tools. They’re leaning into innovation and needs a leader who will too.
    • Strong storytelling, brand management and strategic planning capability
    • Experience taking a PR agenda forward
    • Exceptional stakeholder management skills across media, government, industry peak bodies, unions and training sector audiences.
    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with a strong grasp of digital and social media.
    • You'll thrive here if being people centered and doing the right thing are core to how you lead.

    THE CULTURE
Powering Skills Organisation is a genuine people-first company. The leadership team is engaged, collaborative and values-led, and they expect the same from everyone around the table. This is not an environment where people manage from a distance or direct traffic, everyone is involved, everyone contributes, and the work is better for it.

Work-life balance is real here. PSO invests heavily in staff wellbeing, runs regular engagement initiatives and takes its people seriously. The CEO leads with genuine care and emotional intelligence, and if that sounds like the kind of leader you want to work with, you'll feel it from day one.

Values alignment is not a box to tick here, it's the lens through which decisions are made, people are hired, and everyone shows up to work.
