We are partnering with a well‑established manufacturing organisation to recruit a capable and hands‑on Financial Accountant. This is a broad, commercially focused accounting role offering genuine ownership of the balance sheet and strong exposure to management reporting, analysis and process improvement.
This position will suit an accountant who enjoys end‑to‑end responsibility, thrives in a structured manufacturing environment and is confident presenting financial insights to senior stakeholders.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the balance sheet and P&L, while also supporting budgeting, reporting and value‑add financial analysis across the business.
This is not a transactional role — it offers autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to contribute beyond core compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- End‑to‑end ownership of balance sheet integrity and P&L accuracy
- Preparation and posting of month‑end journals, accruals and adjustments
- Execution of month‑end close, including GL close/open and reporting
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations across banks, inventory, AR/AP, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, GST, FBT and related accounts
- Ensure sub‑ledgers reconcile to the general ledger and maintain GL structure
- Preparation of monthly management accounts with variance and trend analysis
- Support audits, annual tax schedules and compliance with accounting standards and group policies
- Sales, margin, freight, marketing and operating expense analysis
- Budget preparation support and contribution to forecasting and financial planning activities
- Oversight of automated AP processes and support across AR/AP during leave periods
- Identification and implementation of accounting and process improvements
- Presentation of financial results, risks and recommendations to management
- Active compliance with workplace safety policies and procedures
- Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or CA qualified (or near completion)
- Proven experience in a Financial Accountant or Company Accountant role
- Strong balance sheet reconciliation and month‑end close experience
- Knowledge of Australian tax and statutory requirements (GST, FBT)
- Manufacturing or product‑based industry experience highly regarded
- Confident communicator able to explain financial results to non‑finance stakeholders
- Proactive, detail‑focused and improvement‑driven mindset
