Perigon Group is partnering with a purpose-led national organisation operating within the energy and workforce capability sector to appoint a General Manager - Government, Industry & Insights.
This is a rare opportunity to join an organisation playing a critical role in supporting Australia's transition to net zero through workforce strategy, industry collaboration and policy influence. Reporting to the COO and forming part of the senior leadership team, this role will lead a multidisciplinary function across government relations, research, industry engagement and strategic partnerships. The successful candidate will help position the organisation as a trusted advisor to industry and government, while ensuring research, insight and stakeholder engagement translate into practical strategic outcomes.
About You
You are an experienced senior leader who thrives in complex, evolving environments and enjoys bringing clarity, structure and momentum to strategic priorities. You may come from government, industry, consulting, infrastructure, education, energy, policy or transformation environments, however you will bring demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives, influencing senior stakeholders and aligning teams around organisational outcomes.
You are commercially and politically astute, comfortable operating at executive level and capable of balancing strategic thinking with operational execution.
You will likely bring experience across:
- Government relations, policy or strategic stakeholder engagement
- Organisational transformation or enterprise-wide strategy execution
- Leading multidisciplinary teams and building capability
- Translating research, insights or complex information into strategic direction
- Facilitating collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups
- Driving innovation, systems improvement and operational maturity
- Representing organisations externally through forums, workshops, presentations or industry engagement
Most importantly, you are someone who can connect people, ideas and functions to create alignment, impact and credibility.
About the Role
This is a broad and influential leadership role responsible for ensuring government engagement, industry insights and research functions operate cohesively and strategically.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading government and stakeholder engagement strategies across Commonwealth and State jurisdictions
- Overseeing research, workforce insights and industry intelligence activities
- Driving stronger integration and alignment across teams and organisational functions
- Embedding governance, systems and operational rigour across the portfolio
- Supporting innovation and identifying opportunities to improve organisational effectiveness, including the use of AI and emerging technologies
- Representing the organisation externally through industry forums, strategic partnerships and government engagement
- Leading and developing a high-performing team of Directors and specialists within a remote-first environment
