Shape the future of leadership capability across one of Queensland's largest education organisations. This is an opportunity to join a large, purpose-driven organisation where leadership capability is recognised as a key driver of organisational performance, culture and employee experience.
Supporting a workforce of more than 10,000 employees across a diverse network of schools and corporate teams, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering leadership and talent initiatives that build capability today while preparing the organisation for the future.
Working within a collaborative People & Culture function, you'll partner with senior stakeholders to create meaningful learning experiences, strengthen leadership capability and influence organisational outcomes at scale.
The Opportunity
As the People Capability & Leadership Lead, you'll take ownership of the design, development and delivery of strategic leadership and talent initiatives that support a high-performing, future-ready workforce.
This is far more than a traditional learning and development role. You'll act as an internal consultant, partnering with leaders to understand organisational challenges, diagnose capability needs and design practical solutions that create measurable impact.
You'll influence leadership capability across a broad range of initiatives including leadership programs, mentoring, talent development, succession planning, career pathways and enterprise-wide capability frameworks. You'll also contribute to the ongoing evolution of the organisation's People Performance Framework, ensuring leadership practices continue to align with organisational strategy and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver contemporary leadership development programs that strengthen leadership capability across the organisation.
- Partner with senior leaders to identify capability gaps and develop practical, fit-for-purpose development solutions.
- Lead the design of leadership, talent and succession initiatives aligned to strategic workforce priorities.
- Develop frameworks, tools and resources that support leadership effectiveness, performance and long-term capability.
- Facilitate engaging workshops, leadership programs and development experiences across a broad range of audiences.
- Provide specialist advice to leaders and People & Culture stakeholders on leadership development and organisational capability.
- Analyse organisational data and insights to inform future capability initiatives and measure program effectiveness.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning, high performance and accountability through contemporary leadership practices.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of talent management and succession planning processes across the organisation.
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders while managing multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously.
You're an experienced organisational development or leadership capability professional who enjoys partnering with leaders to solve complex people challenges. Comfortable moving between strategy and delivery, you know how to design practical solutions that build leadership capability, strengthen culture and create lasting organisational impact.
Success in this role requires someone who is adaptable, responsive and comfortable operating in an environment where organisational priorities can evolve. You'll be someone who naturally leans in when it matters, balancing strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach to delivery. Rather than simply delivering programs, you're energised by diagnosing capability needs, influencing stakeholders, designing tailored solutions and measuring their impact over time.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering leadership and talent development initiatives within large, complex organisations.
- Strong facilitation, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to engage confidently with leaders at all levels.
- Experience translating organisational strategy into practical leadership and capability solutions.
- A consultative approach, using data, insight and organisational context to design meaningful learning experiences.
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, while managing multiple priorities.
- A genuine passion for leadership development, organisational capability and creating positive cultural outcomes.
- Experience within education, healthcare, government or similarly complex environments will be highly regarded.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine organisational impact in a role where your work will influence leaders across one of Queensland's largest education providers.
You'll join a collaborative and values-driven People & Culture team that is committed to building leadership capability, strengthening organisational culture and investing in the long-term success of its people.
If you're someone who enjoys partnering with leaders, solving complex capability challenges and seeing the tangible impact of your work across an organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
