A large operational business with assets and sites located across regional Australia is seeking a Management Accountant to join its finance team.
The organisation operates in a fast-moving environment with a strong focus on operational performance, cost visibility and continuous improvement. Finance works closely with operational stakeholders to provide timely reporting, commercial insight and support informed decision-making across the business.
The Role
Reporting into senior finance leadership, this role will support a portfolio of operational sites and work closely with stakeholders across both finance and operations.
The position combines management accounting, reporting and analytical responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on understanding operational drivers, monitoring costs and improving financial visibility. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with the business and being involved in both reporting and process improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing weekly and month-end reporting, reconciliations and financial analysis
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and performance monitoring activities
- Completing variance analysis and providing commentary around operational results
- Processing journals, cost reallocations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting inventory and cost reporting activities across operational sites
- Assisting with intercompany transactions and internal reporting processes
- Working with operational stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and visibility
- Contributing to ongoing systems and process improvement initiatives
About You
You’re a commercially minded accountant who enjoys understanding how operations impact financial performance. You’re comfortable working with large data sets, managing competing priorities and explaining financial information in a practical way.
You’ll bring:
- CA or CPA qualification (or working towards)
- Experience in a management accounting or commercial finance role
- Strong analytical capability and attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
- Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools (SAP advantageous)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
