Job Description:

  • Analyse performance and provide insight across operational areas
  • Work closely with stakeholders on budgets, forecasts and key drivers
  • Strong commercial exposure with development and progression opportunities
  • The Organisation

A large organisation with an extensive operational footprint is looking to add a Operations Accountant to its finance team.

Finance plays an important role in supporting the performance of the broader business, providing operational leaders with greater visibility over costs, performance and key financial drivers. With established operations and continued investment in its finance capability, this is an opportunity to join a team where commercial insight and continuous improvement are highly valued.

    The Role

This role will see you work across several operational areas, using financial and operational information to help stakeholders better understand performance and make informed decisions.

While you'll maintain ownership across core operational accounting activities, a key focus will be getting behind the numbers - understanding what's driving results, identifying emerging trends and providing useful insights back to the business.

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Preparing monthly management reporting and performance commentary
    • Analysing results across operational KPIs, costs and key business drivers
    • Investigating variances and communicating findings to stakeholders
    • Supporting annual budgets, forecasts and ongoing financial planning
    • Working with operational leaders to improve visibility over financial performance
    • Completing month-end journals, accruals, allocations and balance sheet reviews
    • Identifying trends, risks and opportunities through financial and operational analysis
    • Supporting audit, controls and governance requirements
    • Contributing to improvements across reporting, systems and finance processes

    About You

You'll be a commercially curious accountant who enjoys understanding why results have moved rather than simply reporting what happened.

You're comfortable working with operational stakeholders and can communicate financial information in a practical way that helps people make better decisions.

    You’ll bring:
    • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
    • Management accounting, commercial finance or similar experience
    • CA/CPA qualification or studies will be advantageous
    • Strong budgeting, forecasting and management reporting capability
    • Confidence analysing large volumes of financial and operational data
    • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP or reporting systems
    • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
    • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement
Experience within a larger, operational or multi-site environment would be particularly relevant.

    On Offer
    • Genuine exposure to operational and commercial decision-making
    • Work directly with stakeholders across multiple areas of the business
    • Established finance function with strong support and mentorship
    • Opportunity to develop your commercial finance capability
    • Competitive salary package and longer-term progression opportunities
