We're partnering with a values-driven organisation in North Brisbane to recruit an experienced Payroll Officer to take full ownership of the end-to-end payroll function. The Opportunity
As Payroll Officer, you'll have ownership of the payroll function and play a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. The environment is varied and engaging, with a strong focus on Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation, payroll compliance and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the end-to-end fortnightly payroll process
- Interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements and employment conditions
- Ensuring accurate calculation of wages, penalty rates, allowances and leave entitlements
- Managing payroll tax, reporting and compliance obligations
- Processing payroll adjustments, reconciliations and audit checks
- Responding to payroll queries and providing support to managers and employees
- Maintaining payroll data integrity and employee records
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
- Partnering closely with Finance to support reporting and payroll integration
We're looking for someone who is highly detail-oriented, enjoys working through complexity and takes ownership of their work.
You'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing (min. 3-4 years)
- Strong Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation skills
- Sound knowledge of payroll tax and payroll compliance requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A willingness to continuously learn and deepen your understanding of Awards, EAs and employment conditions
