You’ll be part of a high-performing Investment Operations team where risk is embedded in day-to-day activities and ownership sits firmly within Line 1. This role can be based either from Brisbane or Sydney.
The Role
This is an opportunity for an experienced Line 1 Risk Specialist to join a key investment function on a 6-month contract, supporting risk management in a complex environment.
Working as a true first line partner within the business, you’ll focus on embedding risk practices, strengthening controls, and ensuring risks are effectively identified and managed. The role is hands-on, spanning incident management, issue remediation, risk reporting, and control uplift, and is best suited to someone with strong Line 1 experience in investment operations, asset management, or capital markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and embedment of Line 1 risk frameworks across investment operations
- Identify and manage operational and investment risks, ensuring effective controls are in place
- Manage incidents, issues, and breaches, including root cause analysis and remediation
- Deliver risk reporting, insights, and dashboards to support governance and decision-making
- Identify emerging risks and control weaknesses, driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Support the integration of risk management into day-to-day investment operations processes
- Coordinate audit, assurance, and governance activities, while contributing to a strong Line 1 risk culture
- Proven experience in a Line 1 Risk role within financial services (essential)
- Strong background in investment operations, asset management, or capital markets
- Experience embedding risk practices within front-line business teams
- Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks, controls, and governance
- Experience with incident management, issue remediation, and control uplift
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
