With a strong national presence, they’re seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Finance Manager to step in on a maternity leave contract, offering hands‑on support and steady leadership during this period.

The Role
This 9‑month fixed term contract reports into senior leadership and plays a key role in overseeing day‑to‑day finance operations while supporting broader financial planning and decision‑making.
It’s a hands‑on, operational leadership role — ideal for someone who enjoys being across the detail, supporting a small team, and partnering with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting, including board reporting support
- Oversee cash flow management, financial controls, and compliance with accounting standards
- Manage the external audit process and assist with statutory reporting requirements
- Handle tax obligations including BAS and FBT
- Provide leadership and day‑to‑day supervision of the finance team
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance, accuracy, and timeliness
- Oversight of accounts payable and receivable functions
- Monitor financial performance, manage risk, and support operational decision‑making
- Maintain and improve finance systems, processes, and internal controls
- Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and advisors
- Support financial modelling, analysis, and ad‑hoc projects as required
- CA or CPA Qualified (or close to completion)
- Proven background as a Senior Accountant or Junior Finance Manager
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff within a finance team
- Strong technical accounting skills with a hands on, solutions focused mindset
- Strong understanding of Payroll operations and compliance
- Exposure to not for profit or service based organisations highly regarded
- Confident communicator
