Opportunity
We're looking for a hands-on Senior Financial Accountant to join this business on a fixed-term contract and make an immediate impact. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will focus on strengthening audit readiness, improving the control environment, and helping accelerate month-end close across the group.
This short-term contract role is well suited to a technically strong accountant who enjoys hands-on delivery, solving problems quickly, and leaving behind sustainable process improvements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking ownership of month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and review of financial results
- Preparing and uplifting balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring robust substantiation and clear audit support
- Maintaining the fixed asset register and processing depreciation, disposals and related accounting
- Supporting statutory financial statements and year-end reporting requirements
- Coordinating audit deliverables, responding to audit queries, and ensuring supporting documentation is complete and audit-ready
- Assisting with tax compliance and reporting, including BAS/GST, FBT and income tax packs
- Strengthening the balance sheet reconciliation framework and identifying control gaps for remediation
- Supporting finance systems enhancements, including ERP configuration and chart of accounts
- Partnering with budget owners and operational stakeholders on coding, accruals and reporting
- 5+ years' experience in hands-on financial accounting, including month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong understanding of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
- Proven experience preparing audit-ready working papers and resolving audit queries
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with finance systems/ERPs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to execute effectively in fast-paced environments
