A large, well-established Australian organisation is seeking a Senior Commercial Accountant to join its Brisbane-based finance team.
The business operates across multiple locations and supports a range of operational activities nationally. Finance plays an important role in partnering with operational leaders to deliver clear reporting, financial insight and performance analysis that supports better decision-making across the organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the SLT team, this role sits within a team of management accountants and acts as a key finance partner to operational stakeholders.
You will support a portfolio of operations by delivering timely reporting, financial analysis and commercial insights that assist leadership teams in managing performance and achieving operational targets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing month-end close including journals, reconciliations and reporting
- Preparing management reports and providing analysis and commentary on performance
- Supporting forecasting, planning and financial modelling activities
- Monitoring cashflow and supporting dividend planning activities
- Overseeing cost allocation and financial arrangements across joint venture structures
- Preparing monthly and quarterly reporting packs for leadership and board stakeholders
- Partnering with operational teams to improve cost control and financial performance
- Acting as the key finance contact for operational leadership and internal stakeholders
About You
You are a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with operational teams and being close to how a business actually runs. You’re comfortable working with large data sets, interpreting financial performance and translating complex numbers into clear insights that help stakeholders make better decisions.
You’ll bring:
- CA or CPA qualification with several years’ experience in management accounting, business partnering or operational finance roles
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, forecasting and performance analysis
- Experience working in operational, manufacturing, heavy industry or asset-intensive environments will be highly regarded
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into clear insights for non-finance stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the confidence to partner with senior operational leaders
- Advanced Excel capability and experience working with ERP systems (SAP experience advantageous)
- A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet reporting deadlines
