A growing organisation with a sizeable operational footprint is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join its Brisbane based finance team.
The business continues to evolve its finance capability as operations expand, with a strong focus on improving reporting quality, strengthening controls and supporting leaders with timely financial insight. The finance function operates in a collaborative environment with regular interaction across both operational and corporate teams.
The Role
This role sits within the senior layer of the finance team and offers a balance of technical accounting, review responsibilities and stakeholder engagement.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring reporting accuracy, maintaining strong governance standards and supporting the broader finance function through review, analysis and process oversight. The position also offers exposure to mentoring junior team members and contributing to ongoing improvements across reporting and finance operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing month-end reporting, reconciliations and financial outputs
- Supporting statutory reporting, audit coordination and compliance activities
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis processes
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, cashflow reporting and indirect tax obligations
- Supporting consolidated reporting and management reporting activities
- Working closely with stakeholders across the business to provide financial guidance
- Identifying opportunities to improve controls, systems and reporting processes
- Providing guidance and support to junior members of the finance team
About you
You’re a technically strong accountant who enjoys operating in a role that combines review, oversight and stakeholder interaction. You’re comfortable managing competing priorities, maintaining high reporting standards and supporting others within the team.
You will bring:
- CA or CPA qualification with relevant commercial experience
- Strong financial accounting and reporting capability
- Experience operating within a complex or multi-entity environment
- Exposure to statutory reporting, compliance and audit processes
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with ERP/reporting systems
- Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- A proactive approach and willingness to improve existing processes
