This is an outstanding opportunity for a CA/CPA-qualified or near-qualified accountant who has developed their foundations in chartered practice and is ready to take that training into a commercial environment.
You may currently be a Senior Accountant, Senior Advisor or Senior Associate within Business Services, Tax or Audit and wondering what the right first move into industry looks like. Alternatively, you may have already made that transition and be looking for a business offering stronger mentorship, growth and exposure.
The business itself is a major part of the opportunity. It has grown rapidly in Australia and internationally, has ambitious plans for its next phase, and has built an exceptionally strong culture around its people, values and long-term vision.
The finance team reflects that. You'll work closely with an experienced Financial Controller and FP&A lead, both of whom developed their careers through chartered accounting before successfully transitioning into commercial finance.
The Role
This is a broad, hands-on Senior Accountant position where strong technical fundamentals matter.
You'll initially build a deep understanding of the business and its financial operations, while gradually taking greater responsibility from the Financial Controller as you develop.
Responsibilities will include:
- Delivering accurate and timely month-end reporting, including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing financial and management reporting across a growing multi-entity environment
- Supporting cashflow management, forecasting and broader financial analysis
- Coordinating BAS, payroll tax and other statutory and compliance requirements
- Supervisising transactional finance processes across AP, AR, banking and payroll support
- Working closely with offshore finance resources to maintain accuracy, controls and reporting discipline
- Supporting the Financial Controller across broader accounting, reporting and finance initiatives
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen controls, simplify processes and eliminate manual work
- Contributing to automation and AI initiatives as the finance function continues to evolve
What makes the opportunity different is where it can lead.
As you establish yourself, there is genuine scope to take more from the Financial Controller, broaden your commercial exposure and develop towards an Assistant Financial Controller-style position as the business continues to scale.
About You
We're particularly interested in accountants who have benefited from the technical grounding and discipline that comes from professional practice.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Approximately 4–7 years' accounting experience
- CA/CPA qualification, or be nearing completion
- Training within a reputable chartered accounting firm across Business Services, Tax, Audit or Advisory
- Alternatively, a combination of practice training and subsequent commercial accounting experience
- Strong financial reporting, month-end and reconciliation fundamentals
- An organised, disciplined and detail-oriented approach
- Confidence communicating with stakeholders while remaining grounded and collaborative
- Genuine curiosity around systems, process improvement, automation and AI
- A desire to understand the business rather than simply complete the accounting
Why Make the Move?
You'll gain exposure to how a growing international business actually operates, work closely with experienced finance leaders, develop beyond traditional accounting and have the opportunity to improve the systems and processes around you.
The organisation is ambitious, technology-forward and actively exploring how automation and AI can make finance better. It's also a genuinely people-focused business with an excellent culture and a track record of developing its people internally.
If you've been waiting for the right opportunity to make your move from practice into industry — or you've recently made that move and want greater scope — this is one worth exploring.
