This Brisbane based organisation offers the opportunity to gain that experience within a collaborative finance team, where you'll be involved in a variety of accounting activities and have the support of experienced colleagues.

For an Accountant looking to move beyond a predominantly transactional position, this is an opportunity to build stronger technical foundations and take on greater responsibility as your experience develops.


The Role

Working alongside experienced finance professionals, you'll be involved in the day-to-day accounting activities of the business, with exposure to month end reporting, financial reconciliations, cash management and compliance.

The position is particularly suited to someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable working across different accounting functions and wants to continue building their technical capability.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with month end close, general ledger maintenance and journal entries
• Preparing and reviewing bank, supplier and intercompany reconciliations
• Supporting accounts payable and receivable activities, ensuring transactions are processed accurately
• Monitoring cash balances and assisting with payments and cash management
• Supporting payroll accounting and associated reconciliations
• Assisting with BAS preparation and other statutory compliance obligations
• Preparing supporting schedules and financial information for year-end and audit requirements
• Investigating discrepancies and resolving accounting queries
• Maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting financial controls
• Working with the wider finance team to identify opportunities for process improvements

About you

You'll have developed a good understanding of core accounting processes and be looking for a role that offers greater variety, responsibility and exposure to a more complex business environment.

We're particularly interested in candidates who are proactive, detail oriented and enjoy being involved in different aspects of the finance function.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• At least three years' experience in an Accountant, Assistant Accountant or similar position
• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Progress towards CA/CPA qualification, or the intention to commence
• Sound knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end processes
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to pick up new accounting systems
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• A willingness to take ownership of tasks and develop your accounting knowledge
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others

Experience working across multiple entities or within an internationally connected business would be advantageous, although not essential.
