This opportunity sits within a privately owned business where the finance team works closely with operational stakeholders and plays an important role in keeping day-to-day financial activities running effectively.

For someone early in their accounting career, the position offers the chance to develop a strong understanding of how commercial transactions flow through a business, while progressively gaining exposure to broader financial accounting and reporting activities.


The Role

Working alongside experienced finance professionals, you'll play an important role in managing accounts receivable activities while supporting the wider team across financial transactions, reconciliations and month-end reporting.

The role offers a mix of transactional ownership and developing accounting responsibilities, making it well suited to someone who has built a foundation in finance and is ready to expand their experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, reconciliations and collections
• Working with operational teams to ensure sales, purchasing and logistics transactions are accurately recorded
• Assisting with accounts payable and general finance transactions
• Preparing bank and intercompany reconciliations
• Supporting cash flow monitoring and treasury-related accounting activities
• Maintaining general ledger records and preparing journals
• Assisting with month-end close and the preparation of financial reports
• Preparing draft management reporting and supporting schedules
• Supporting BAS, FBT and payroll tax compliance requirements
• Assisting with year-end reporting and external audit processes
• Identifying discrepancies and helping maintain accurate financial records

About you

You'll have some practical experience in an accounting or finance support position and be looking for an opportunity to build on that foundation.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable working with financial transactions, enjoys getting the details right and is motivated to develop their accounting skills.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• At least two years' experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Receivable or similar finance position
• A degree in Accounting or a related discipline
• Recently commenced or currently studying towards CA/CPA qualification
• Experience with invoicing, reconciliations and payment processing
• A sound understanding of accounting principles and month-end activities
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
• Some exposure to foreign currency transactions
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Good communication skills and a willingness to work closely with operational stakeholders
• A proactive attitude and genuine interest in developing your accounting career

Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system would be advantageous, although not essential.
