THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager, Audit & Risk, the Audit Lead will play a key role in delivering COEX's compliance and assurance program across its statewide network.
This 12-month fixed term contract will see you conducting compliance reviews and site-based assurance activities across multiple Container Exchange operators throughout Queensland. Working closely with site managers, operational teams and internal stakeholders, you will assess compliance obligations, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and support the ongoing integrity of the Containers for Change scheme.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being out in the field, building relationships across operational environments and balancing structured audit processes with practical business outcomes.
Candidates with experience auditing or working within operational, blue-collar or multi-site environments will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering COEX's Scheme Compliance Review Program across Queensland
- Conducting site-based compliance reviews and assurance activities across Container Exchange operators
- Planning and coordinating audit schedules across multiple locations and stakeholders
- Building strong working relationships with site managers and operational teams
- Identifying compliance risks, process gaps and improvement opportunities
- Preparing audit findings, reports and recommendations for management
- Monitoring corrective actions and assessing remediation outcomes
- Supporting internal audit and broader assurance activities across the business
- Maintaining accurate audit records, working papers and compliance documentation
- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of audit, compliance and assurance processes
- Supporting risk, compliance and integrity initiatives as required
ABOUT YOU
This role will suit an audit, compliance or assurance professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and gaining a practical understanding of how businesses operate on the ground.
You will be comfortable engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, from site-based employees and operational leaders through to corporate teams. You understand how to assess compliance requirements, identify risks and provide practical recommendations that support both operational performance and governance outcomes.
To Be Successful, You Will Demonstrate:
- Experience in internal audit, compliance, assurance, operational auditing or similar review environments
- Experience conducting audits, compliance reviews or assurance activities across multiple sites or locations
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build credibility with operational teams
- Experience working within operational or asset-intensive industries such as waste management, logistics, transport, manufacturing, construction, infrastructure or similar sectors
- The ability to identify risks, control weaknesses and compliance issues while maintaining a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
- The ability to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive and self-sufficient approach, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Flexibility to occasionally travel throughout Queensland, including regional locations, will be required.
