The Role
The Management Accountant will work closely with operational and commercial stakeholders, providing analysis and insight across manufacturing performance, costs and margins.
This isn't a role focused purely on producing the numbers. You'll be expected to understand what has driven the result, investigate movements and translate financial and operational data into practical information that stakeholders can use.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analysing manufacturing costs, margins and operational performance
- Understanding key drivers including throughput, yield, labour efficiency and overhead recovery
- Reviewing product and customer profitability and explaining key movements
- Analysing sales, gross margin, operating costs, inventory and working capital
- Working closely with operational stakeholders to understand plant performance
- Investigating variances and identifying the underlying causes behind results
- Providing insight to support pricing, product mix, inventory and cost decisions
- Preparing management reporting and clear performance commentary
- Identifying trends, risks and opportunities across financial and operational data
- Supporting improvements to reporting, systems and finance processes
- Contributing to better use of data and BI tools across the finance function
About You
You'll be a commercially minded Management Accountant who enjoys getting into the detail and understanding how an operational business performs.
You'll ideally bring:
- Previous experience in management accounting, commercial finance or a similar position
- Exposure to manufacturing, FMCG, wholesale or another product based environment
- Strong costing and management accounting experience
- An understanding of inventory, margins and operational performance
- Strong Excel and data analysis capability
- Confidence working with ERP and financial reporting systems
- Exposure to Power BI or other BI tools would be advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to operational stakeholders
- A curious and proactive approach to understanding performance
