An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced payroll professional to step into a newly created leadership role, overseeing payroll audit, compliance, reconciliations and remediation activities across a large and complex workforce environment.
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, you will lead a small team of Payroll Analysts while partnering closely with HR, IT, Finance and Legal stakeholders to investigate payroll issues, deliver payroll projects and ensure ongoing compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies.
This role is ideal for a senior payroll specialist or payroll manager/team leader looking to combine hands-on technical expertise with people leadership and project exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead payroll audit, compliance and quality assurance activities
- Manage historical payroll analysis, reconciliations and entitlement reviews
- Investigate complex payroll scenarios and internal escalations
- Analyse large payroll datasets to identify discrepancies, trends and risk areas
- Partner with Payroll, HR, IT and Legal teams on payroll improvement initiatives
- Supervise and mentor a team of two senior payroll analysts
- Support payroll remediation and compliance-related projects
- Contribute to testing activities associated with payroll system enhancements and upgrades
- Provide clear communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
You will be a highly analytical payroll professional who enjoys solving complex problems and working across systems, data and legislation.
Ideally, you will bring:
- 5+ years' end-to-end payroll experience within a large or complex environment
- Previous experience in a Team Lead, Supervisor or Management capacity
- Strong payroll compliance, audit or remediation experience
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and data analysis
- Strong reconciliation and investigative capabilities
- Ability to interpret Awards, employment conditions and payroll legislation
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Exposure to payroll projects, system implementations or payroll testing activities will be highly regarded
- Experience with Aurion, PeopleSoft or similar enterprise payroll systems is advantageous
